"Cell" is by far our singular composition: highly dynamic, full of breakneck tempo changes and tons of FX stretched into this roller-coaster-like piece of music.
“Cell 342 took a long gestation time, it was really difficult to find the right sequences and the perfect glue to join the several parts. I remember that we worked on it from mid 2012 until a few days before starting to record the album, in February 2014.” T.M.
The original mix was very loud and low-rich, so in this new Empowered Mix we re-balanced the drum sound and emphasized Alex’s use of Tony Levin’s Funk Fingers, played wisely across the whole piece. Also of interest are the extremely rich vocals by Enrico, with up to five simultaneous backing vocal tracks going by. Crazy stuff!
lyrics
Above the ceiling
dreams like butterflies in the sky
are colors for my white sheet
and somewhere tears fall
“where is my fault?”
he asks me to reply
increasing disease
that silently glows
You put the right things
beside the wrong ones
Remove all your pride
and what you were before
Take off your white coat and let me see
Take off your white coat and then you’ll see
No, I’ m not a fool
Nobody is a fool
Let me be
let me out
it’s what I need
Suddenly, I got it
and I know, I bought and paid for my disgrace with my life
Yes, you could insult me
but I’m sure you think that’s someone else with me, don’t you?
Who’s there? There’s no one else.
Everyone craves the sight
while time is mocking us
I’ve just asked you to leave me alone!
Who’s there? There’s no one else
This is one of those days in which I can
move those clouds that obscure my steps
like smoke on my face
there’s someone who says repeatedly
“these are his last days”
but I’m not afraid to die
No! No, not any more
Wherever I’ll go
they won’t be here any more
their drugs are killing me
and all I want is what I was before
until we cried
I’ve said “pray for me”
I’ve said “pray for me”
please…..
I won’t ask you for more
you couldn’t give more of this
Who’s there? There’s no one else.
You don’t seem afraid
for who you are looking for
he might not exist
The meaning is clear
all doubts disappear
I come, he goes
I come, he goes
I come, he goes
I come, he goes
I’m coming back.

I received this as a surprise present by the band for pre-ordering the upcoming album, so thanks a lot to you, too :-))
As could be expected by Pat Sanders & Co, highly melodic prog that should, for instance, appeal too friends of Fish-era Marillion (although Uncle Fish would never have reached those high notes ;-) ) and some instrumentals (from beautiful miniatures like Bubbles to the more epic Last Supper). Among many other fine things offered here, I especially love Pat's piano playing! Carsten Pieper

To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had.
